As a result of ongoing speeding concerns - especially in school zones - I have supported reduced speed limits and upgraded signage. I have also devised a plan – unique to the City - to install Flexible Traffic Bollards on 15 select streets in Ward 4 as a test pilot project, aided by additional traffic calming measures to encourage slower speeds on our roads.
Ward 4 is home to numerous public parks and it is my priority to ensure their upkeep and future enhancements. From playground updates to trail and pathway reconstructions, I look forward to envisioning new ways of optimizing our local parks; additional shade structures and seating spaces and new sport amenities and leash-free areas are on the horizon!
With a population of 717,961, it is imperative that Mississauga’s transportation network be expanded and streamlined. I currently serve as Chair of the City’s HuLRT Ad Hoc Working Group which regularly meets with Metrolinx, and have built a strong working relationship with MiWay Operations and with ATU Local 1572 and its 1,100+ members.
Numerous lifecycle replacements are being made, involving aged water mains, storm-water pipes and sanitary lines; I regularly walk our local streets and perform sidewalk and road inspections. The Region’s Burnhamthorpe Water Project, which I am actively involved with, brings 12 kilometers of improved water and sanitary services into Ward 4 - and is near completion!
For the safety of our community, it is crucial that our policing, fire and emergency services be kept strong. I have supported the building of new Fire Station #120 at Eglinton & Hurontario, and regularly request enforcement of speeding and excess noise on our local roads. I am also involved with Neighbourhood Watch, now 22 streets and 1,512 members strong in Ward 4!
Join me on the campaign trail.
I am so incredibly proud, humbled and overwhelmed by the generous amount of support that I have received in this campaign.
This victory is not mine alone, it is shared with all the wonderful Ward 4 residents who put their confidence in and voted for me to serve their needs and represent them for another term.
I look forward to continuing the rewarding work that I have been blessed with in this new term.
