Representing Ward 4, John Kovac was first elected to Mississauga city council in 2015, in a by-election, before later winning re-election in the 2018 municipal election. He currently serves on several City and Regional Committees, including as Chair of the “Hurontario Light Rail Transit Working Group”, as Vice-Chair of the “Public Vehicle Advisory Committee” and as a board member of “Traffic Safety Council”, the “Mississauga Library Board” and also the Region’s “Diversity, Equity and Anti-Racism Committee”.
John was born and raised in Mississauga and grew-up in the ‘Rathwood’ neighbourhood. Currently residing in Ward 4, he is proud to be the elected representative for his local neighbourhood and their voice on council. Academically, he has graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in History and English Literature from the University of Toronto, St. Michael’s College.
Prior to serving as Ward 4 Councillor, John served as a Government Relations representative for a trade union, and had also previously worked for a Member of Parliament in addition to a Member of Provincial Parliament / Ontario Minister of Labour.
